PB.
Maybe your "circle of friends" is very different from mine. But we've still been breeding for large breasts for a long time, and I can say for a certainty that of the 25 or so 22-30 year old women I have spent the last three years with, those with "disproportionately large" breasts for their body size have NOT had any "work" done. That's about 15 women out of that 25, by the way. Kinda makes it more difficult to concentrate on classwork, ya know?
And just to give an example, (and so nobody accuses me of not posting pictures enough here), here is Jolene Blalock.

I've no idea what this conversation is about, but Jolene's definitely had a boob job.
Sorry Glenn but I'm with Powerbook. I noticed a while back that there seems to be something in North American culture which somehow dulls your Lego detectors. I can spot 'em a mile off (with probably 95% accuracy).

I'd post some examples but I can't think of any which are allowed in this family forum.
So here's a nice pic of Christy Turlington instead:

I'll agree that a lot of "celeb" types have been enhanced. Apparently, Jolene had a job done in around '92, something I wasn't aware of. To me, she has very natural looking breasts, so I didn't even consider it. I know, for real, young women with small frames and large busts who are guaranteed natural, so Jolene's shape isn't "unnatural" at all.
It is easy to tell when extreme work has been done, and when the surgery wasn't done well, but I doubt that you're really 95% accurate. Of course that sounds like we both need to set up a real, scientific study to check this out. I think it'll take several hundred women, some natural, some otherwise, and of course they'll all have to be "substantial" so that the test would be valid... Sounds like fun, right?

Yep. I know girls who're really thin and have huge naturals. As an example we can all see, try "Rhian" at Page 3.
Jolene's sit a bit wrong. Not enough "meld" (ha!) into the torso. This is usually the give-away.

Shannon Elizabeth in the original American Pie is pretty much the only boob job which has ever fooled me. That was before I saw her earlier work (such as Dish Dogs), obviously.

But yes, it does sound like we need a scientific experiment to sort it all out once and for all. Now, how do we go about applying for the grant?

I've been working on THAT problem for a long time, with a focus on another scientific puzzle: do the curtains match the carpet? Perhaps we can combine the two questions into a single, broad investigation...

I was channel jumping the other night and came across a programme on E! with the 50 sexiest people on the planet. There were some real losers but the models like Bundchen and Heidi Klum were IMHO the sexiest. AFAIK neither has had any implants.

Plastic tits, IIRC. Heard it on the grapevine and some early catwalk pics bear it out (and of course, now I need them I can't find 'em anywhere).

As for "enhanced" or not, since I will never get within arms reach of any of these pictured ladies, I really don't care. As for "real" or not, well of course they're real, but perhaps not as nature intended. But then, nature didn't intend for any of us to shave/wax/pluck/etc., so I'm pretty much cool with that.

I know what you mean and I know in Germany we also have girls "with disproportionately large breasts". Still, other parts of the body then fit to these breasts. You will rarely see _totally_ slender girls with these breasts, and then the chance of artificial work is very high.
As for the spotting:
The E.U. beauty ideal with breasts is the form of a "water drop" in size B-C, which is rather like the natural breast.
The U.S. beauty ideal with breasts is an even half-spherical form, in size C-D.
Many surgeons also use the cheaper upper muscle implant routine, which - with large implants - really looks horrific imho.
Also if you see the person in question moving, this should really clear it up, a natural breast behaves totally different than dead material.

I spotted it, but I have to admit, it took a while and it would have been quite difficult on a picture, as it's well done with an under-muscle routine. In the movie however you see the breasts not moving, they are nearly cemented. Also you see the scars below the breasts (the most advanced solution there would have been to cut below the armpit and move the implant from there).

The sub-pectoral implant is the stupidest thing in the world. What, these women aren't expected to use those muscles? That sort of implant causes discomfort with many activities, such as moving the upper arm across the chest, or "internal rotation" (this is where the humerus rotates so that if the arm were bent, the hand would move toward the body). Dumb idea, doctors. On the other hand, an axilary approach (through the armpit) is not uncommon...
