Again I love these reporters/reviewers.
" Ever since its launch, the Nexus One was plagued by costumer service issues - and some technical issues with the phone switching on to the slower EDGE network on T-Mobile even when there's 3G available.
The price of the upgrade at the time of launch was $379 which has now been slashed to $279. Those who have already paid $379 for the upgrade will get a rebate from Google. Google sure knows how to keep everyone happy."
Ya I am sure everyone is "Happy" by the sounds of it

It comes from you trying nitpicking every comment about the Nexus one to death in some kind of pathetic vendetta against the phone. He wasn't talking about ringtones as if they were something special, but you still needed to poke fun of them.

No actually, you can see I have the same issues with the Droid and started a thread about it too. My problem is with Androids entire sales model as it sure as hell doesn't seem to working out as well as anyone has hoped.
I am "Nitpicking" the hardware cuz that's what everyone does with their products especially in a discussion form. I have been in plenty of threads nitpicking the iPhone too.
Sorry if any negatives about the phone hurt you personally.
But as for my "pathetic vendetta" don't you know the Nexus killed my family and I must seek revenge? Duh.

I'd be of the opinion that you take to a special level.

It's alright. I'm sure the aneurysm your passing up on logical arguments for comments on inconsequential non-factors gave me will fade eventually.

You gave him an aneurysm.
Said aneurysm was caused by you not using logical arguments. Instead of logical arguments, you made comments about inconsequential non-factors.
Fortunately for all involved, Dakar's aneurysm, which you gave him, will go away.

See the aneurysm is so bad it's already impairing my ability to write.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking. However, instead of screwing it up completely royally the way Apple did, they are returning the $100 automatically and without being publicly humiliated into it.
It does point to a attitude Google had about the phone, falsely riding the wave of hype riding up to its release and overpricing the unit.

This... well, I don't really get this. I imagine this to be a failure of Rogers more than anything else. No other carrier has this issue.

Um no. But this phone isn't old at all. Rather impressive the first iPhone can run the newest OS today with no hacking.
As for the Rogers issue still strange they can't issue a OTA update but rather exchange and pull of the shelf.

This will make you guys happy. My friend (iPhone user) has been testing one for a couple weeks and he sent me this picture yesterday
His review "I have to admit the hardware is nice but the software sucks".
So there
P.S. He sure seems hell bent on knowing the exact time and weather all the time. :/

It really does that Google is competing with both itself and its own partners. I mean Motorola makes a big commitment to create a half decent phone using Googles OS and then Google turns to HTC to make it own phone?
Lets be honest the Nexus is no iPhone Killer. It is a Droid and every other Android HTC device killer.
Why not just let HTC make the device with their name on it? Makes no sense to me.

This week's Engadget Show had a very good interview with Eric Tseng, who is in charge of Android. The interview starts pretty much right from the beginning. Lots of talk about the Nexus One of course and Android.

It looks like Motorola is getting to design the Nexus Two, so perhaps they're planning to let everyone have a turn.

Yes, believe it or not, many users do in fact desire a physical keyboard, which is probably why Google is contracting Motorola to make a phone that has one to complement the Nexus One.

Probibly. So in the end Motorola can make a device to compete against its own droid which already fills that need. So they sell 50,000 less droids and 50,000 Nexus 2 instead. Great sales model.
Anyway, 80,000 sold in one month.
Here is what should be really obvious news... more people prefer a subsidized phone cheap than an expensive phone with no contract.

Really, I didn't know the Droid was a GSM phone that worked on T-Mobile. Learn something every day I guess.

Me thinks that's a pretty easy change. But really, a moto built Nexus 2 with keyboard is the droid one already. It's no iPhone killer either and the keyboard sucks large.
Lookin' forward to the Nexus 2 that changes everything! Again!

Oh this is great. So the Moto Droid will be upgradable to 2.1 OS.
But....
No animated desktops and you get the old apps drawer.
Why in the Hell would that be?
How is "Open" and flexible working out at all here? Seems every device out so far is different in terms of OS or upgradability. Oh wait, isn't this the reason everyone hates windows mobile? I'm not seeing any difference other than the name.

Hmm, well my buddy at work got a Nexus to use up here on Rogers to replace his iPhone.
After 2 weeks sold the Nexus and went back to his iPhone. The reason, he really liked the hardware but hated the UI as he said it looks like each app was built separately with different UI guidelines. He isn't the type that would normally care about something like that though so it must be really bad.
Hopefully in a year the UI will be constant like iPhone 2007. By then iPhone 4.0 will be out though and they will have to start over.

So wait, why the Hell did HTC already come out with a Nexus killer of their own so soon to compeate with their own product and make google unhappy.
Why would you want the Nexus if this thing loses the stupid trackball.
Oh wait, this thing is slower for some reason.

This whole Android thing makes no sense to me. Aren't there branches off branches from the original Linux code? Now the Linux team is saying that they can't check the code back into the Linux tree.

HTC makes the Nexus One, so how is this a Nexus One killer? It's basically the Nexus One but with Sense. Like I wanted. It's sluggish because it's a much older build of Sense than will ship (according to Engadget). What's wrong with the trackball? It works. If you don't like it, don't use it. I'm not sure if you're being a huge iPhone fanboy here or not, but your comments about Android and HTC are pretty biased and closed minded. If you are indeed an iPhone fanboy, you should know that Apple works well under competition.

How is it a Nexus killer? How about because it looks just like it except the trackball that every single review (not just myself) mentioned how useless and dated it was. How about because it will compete with the nexus?
How about a couple months after they make the nexus they already make a new model?
It is made by the same company. Same target market.
God only know why you would want that OS over Android. They are both equally poor in comparison to some others.
This will only cater to a niche that want that OS for whatever reason or like the trackpad better. Or they like slower OS that are way faster when shipped.
So at the end of the day you got google who will not be thrilled as their "Google aproved phone" now has a clone out by the same company they hired to make the Nexus and at BEST case it will take sales away from Nexus. Plus you also get consumer confusion as to how it is different from the Nexus.
Sure it will work out great for everyone though!

I think you're the only one who is confused. Sense is a skin of the Android OS, not a different OS. How is Android poor compared to any other mobile OS? It has quite powerful features, like the multitasking that you're ripping Windows Mobile 7 apart for in the other thread. Like I said, the Desire doesn't really compete with the Nexus, since it's made by the same company and it's basically the EXACT SAME PHONE. It's like saying the Mac mini with OS X client competes with the mini shipping with OS X server. People will know which one they want.

They can be merged back into the main Linux tree, but the Linux maintainers aren't going to do all the work; the Android community (/Google) needs to do the work of keeping their patches up to date so that they can be merged which they, thus far, haven't done.
I have no idea how this will all play out, but I would suspect that eventually Google will probably do the work to get the Android changes merged upstream if for no other reason than to make it easier for them to keep Android up to date.

Oh pardon me, I wasn't clear on saying new OS. I mean custom SKIN on top of Android which really makes it even more pathetic. Why the need for both? Oh right bigger flip clock,
And no it is NOTHING like saying Apple sells a mini with 2 different OS's and this is the same.
This is more like Apple hiring HTC to make the iPad and then market it away only to have HTC release the iPad with a extra button and a skin on top of the OS. What would this possibly accomplish other than people not buying the apple iPad to buy the HTC iPad instead where apple makes no money.
How is android so powerful? What can it do that the iPhone or apps can't? Oh ya, a highly inconstant UI, different OS upgrades for each device, different user interface for each device? Powerful friendly stuff guess that's why it has such a small market next to the iPhone.

Obviously you've never used an Android phone, or one with Sense. I already told you one thing that it can do which the iPhone can't. Multitask. In the thread about Windows Mobile 7, you said that it couldn't succeed because it can't multitask. Now you change your tune? Whatever. I'm done arguing. The point is that the smartphone industry is incredibly competitive and to blindly say that one product is better than all the rest without even understanding the rest is simply ignorant and stupid.

I don't get any of this. The Desire/Bravo is a GSM worldphone. The Nexus One is a gsm/AWS phone meant for T-Mobile USA 3g bands. It is the same phone, with different radio hardware to operate on different networks. Every device maker does this every single day. Where was the outrage at the Motorola Droid vs the Motorola Milestone? Are you going to condemn Apple when they release an iPad with a 3g radio to operate on European 3g bands?
Let me repeat. The Desire/Bravo was never designed to compete with the Nexus One. They are the same phone designed to operate on different networks in different markets.
