Yes sir! I said in my first post in this thread that I was hoping for a resurgence from Cammalleri a dominating performance from Halak and I got both of my wishes, bring on the Penguins!
And man, oh, man, was it ever sweet to see AO get absolutely nothing done in the last couple games of this series. Any remaining debate over who the best player in the league is should be over after watching Ovechkin get completely shut down and fully exposed as the one-dimensional player that he is. Learn to use your teammates, Ovie - if a mediocre "top" forward like Gomez can do it, you should be able to, too!

Speaking as a very partial fan (of Washington), I agree with you. Both teams played hard, gritty hockey but the Caps came up a few inches short - literally. Both Semin and Green hit the post on shots where they clearly beat Halak. Brutal.

I hope you're right, but if they don't play better than last night, it might go to 7. I still think they'll prevail.

Tough loss for the Habs, in more ways then one. I think they're a long-shot to beat the Penguins, though I can dream. The Pens play a much tougher game then the Caps did and Montreal always seems to have problems containing them.

I thought that no Staal wouldn't be a big deal...WRONG
Putting geno/sid together works great when you have Staal to run the shutdown second line, but with the two headed monster together, we are left with adams/max to center that line (good but not a Selke finalist)

One goal each on weak weak calls between Sj and Detroit. What's up with the refs tonight?

Stuart has been a beast for the Wings tonight (and should definitely have taken a penalty for that after the whistle pounding of Pavelski. But no they'd rather call the fake goalie interferences and slashing).

I agree with you. when I heard staal would be out I didn't think it'd be that big a deal. it really showed in game 2 though.

Alright, hats off to the Sharks. They came back and won this one. Wings looked slow and tired in the third and the overtime. Seems like they are done for this year.

I didn't get to watch this one, but the 2nd game had some horrible officiating! Methinks it's all over also.

Is that what they've been doing? I just got back from vacay and didn't watch the Pens' first-round series, but were they putting Malkin and Sid on the first line together? When did they start doing that? Last night they were back to the regular Sid centering first line, Malkin the second line format - why did they start throwing them together I wonder? Sort of weird.

They didn't really choke tonight, even though they lost 7 - 1! They're also not going to roll over and play dead; they are a damn good team. The question is, can the Wings be only the third team in NHL history to win a series, after a 3 - 0 start? I'd love to see that, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'd love to see the Wings come all the way back to knock out the Sharks but I don't see it happening. I'll think they'll win the next one, then lose a close one... Sharks in 6.
Another huge win by the Habs tonight - this team just keeps proving the critics wrong. I didn't get to watch the game, but what was up with the penalty calls (or non-calls) in this game? That highlight of Fedotenko taking out Subban, springing the Pens for a goal was just atrocious... interference, tripping, whatever you want to call it.
I know it's typically a weak man's argument to blame the refs but after watching the Habs/Caps series and now seeing some of these clips, it sure looks bad on the NHL and gives ammunition to those who'd like to argue that the league really, really, really wants Ovechkin and/or Crosby to go deep into the playoffs and are doing everything they can to make it happen. I really don't want to believe that's the case but jeez.

I have to say Crosby gets away with quite a bit too. But then, the hockey Gods know Fleury is in the net, and Letang on D (My oh my, why are they playing Letang so much?).
Anyhow, nice win for the Wings. Before the game last night, I was thinking that the Wings needed Franzen to wake up. Boy did he ever. Can he keep it going though, because he would be crucial for any hope for the Wings to extend this series. It's nice to see the Wings score 7 goals, all that with "only" 3 assists from the Euro Twins.
Of course I know winning the series is nigh to impossible for the Wings, but I can't help thinking that these are the perennial chokers, and looking back at Thornton getting agitated and frustrated, I am thinking that anything might be possible. Go Wings!!

He's been absolutely great this postseason. He's going to be a great defenceman - between him and Goli, the Pens have a phenomenal young offensive replacement lineup for when Gonchar leaves/retires.

I AGREE! i was a big Letang naysayer early on but these last two post seasons have proven me wrong.
I hate to say it but it looks like thats going to be this year, i have a feeling with Sarge being a free agent he's going to go after big money for his final career move, Pens can offer something but he would need to take a big pay cut compared to the rest of the teams to stay with the Pens

No. Letang has been fantastic this postseason. I did not catch the Sens series but he's been top notch against Montreal, and by all accounts he was one of their best d-men against the Sens as well.

Great Pens game! Fleury was so clutch following a loss its unreal, but its great to have Staal back, he makes all the difference on the PK.
