I have been watching this show on youtube for a while (and have watched the show on TV many times before I cancelled cable) and enjoy it very much.

Just wanted to list a few things I have noticed and learned from this show:

1) Judge Judy is very smart and questions the people (defendants and plaintiffs) so they do not know what is going to happen next and often end up perjuring themselves.

2) People like to say "basically" a lot, which Judge Judy does not like because it summarizes the conclusion, which is often biased. Judge Judy just wants to hear what has been said and she will form the conclusion herself.

3) Many people have very, very poor English.

4) Most of the cases involved involve determining whether the money was a gift or a loan.

5) Many, if not most of the contracts involved in the shows, are oral, and not written, which is why the people are on the show.

6) In comparison to The People's Court with Judge Millian, Judge Millian allows sworn affidavits, which Judge Judy does not, and only relies on witness testimony. Any ideas why? Is it because Judge Judy is in LA and Judge Millian is in Florida (but both Judge Judy and Millian hear cases from people from different states)?

Anyone else watch Judy Judy?

She's certainly easy on the eyes.

There's someone who has a show on one of the Spanish language stations who's startlingly good looking. She's not a judge though, more of a counselor. I had to look up exactly what it was she did. I don't think there's an exact American equivalent.

Can't remember her name though. It's bothering me.

I forgot to add that many people who make a little more than minimum wage seem to have very large income tax refunds. They use this refund money to buy many things and this is often the root of why they are on Judge Judy because it becomes whether the item is either a loan or a gift.

It's hard to tell if that's the case with Ana's show, since I don't speak Spanish.

"Judge" Judy is not an active judge. She is basically a mediator/arbiter as are all TV Court "reality" shows.

Turn on CC #3. That's the English caption service. I have seen a couple of episodes of Caso Cerrado AKA Case Closed.

You are correct. I had misread the wiki article on the show. I thought the show was more explicit about this than other shows. This perception on my part was compounded by her not wearing robes on the show.

It seems like a good idea. Have these penny-ante court cases solved with an eye towards therapeutic solutions.
