Lame? How? Could you provide some constructive feedbacks instead of turning them down for no reason?

Yes the whole having to click multiple links to download a frikken file is the major one. MacUpdate has one click access. It has everything that VersionTracker USED to be, + more.

Oh, and it's free.

Good enough for you?

This sounds like a question for Star Wars Guy.

I update my most used apps whenever as soon as they're updated.

I'm off the chart.

I had Mac OS 8.6 installed a day before Apple announced it.

Win XP SP1 hours after.

Mozilla is updated nightly between 1.xb and 1.x.

Not for the features that MacUpdate has. Like direct download and such.

You have to pay to get those.

I use MacUpdate more than VersionTracker now. I like the favorites list and the notification emails. The Sherlock channel is nice too.

My grief about Macupdate is they cheat off of versiontracker.... I've submitted a product to VT only a few times, and they end up on Macupdate a few hours later.

So? I have seen the SAME thing on VT. Seen it on MU first, only to see it on VT hours later.

They both do it, it seems.

VT seems to only do it if you enter it in their systems (hence sometimes late postings)...

MU is always posting information directly from VT...

and what ticks me off is when I was using a counterscript to count the download... didn't even bother chainging:

download.cgi?refer=vt

just left it. Until I updated the product and entered the info there as well.

I know people that don't post it to VT, only MacUpdate, and it gets on VT as well. So yes, VT does it as well. And no MacUpdate doesn't get all it's updates from VT.

I recently moved near the VersionTrackers headquarters to load VT.com faster

The founder of VT is my idol, I'm writing a biography about him. I'm also writing a book named "How VersionTracker.com changed my life" you can preorder it on amazon.

How anal am I? I'm sooooo anal.

MacUpdate matches VT's pro services PLUS MORE, and gives them to the Macintosh community free of charge. For a list of some of these things, visit:

http://www.macupdate.com/about.php

We search over 800+ websites a day looking for updates. MacUpdate beats VT to the majority of updates posted on either site.

[ Note to Robert at MacVillage.net: We track your site as well, searching for version updates on a daily basis. And in the past, you HAVE manually submitted updates to us. I'm not sure why you stopped doing this though Robert. Wouldn't it make sense to promote your software titles wherever you can?]

It's always nice when I get personal replies

I did manually submit various items in the past, though a few updates (in particular to Keep Me Online) were ignored leaving dead links (and angry emails)... I got disqusted... don't know if it was a technical problem or what... Kurt and friends over at VT always kept it updated, normally within minutes.

[Sidenote: Download.com is the worst of them all... they do it months after you submit, unless you pay. And they botch up the information every time. How they can't properly collect information from a form is beyond me. I submit shareware, and it's "freeware" on the site, duplicate entries, etc... Ugh!]

As of right now, I'm not actively doing much development (other than web), hence not much to submit I did submit Palm4Fix update not to long ago (whenever the heck I last updated that thing).

Should go back into software a bit... was thinking about doing SpeechFX 2.0 and add some more fun (and more advanced) Speach Recognition commands, and get it up to speed for OS X... have a bunch half done (or done) already....

Perhaps one day.

Can you guys not chat back and forth? It's just kinda weird.

Having to click a link, go to another page, and wait on versiontracker is annoying as hell.
