The new "Just For You" beta feature in the iTunes Music Store is suggesting I buy Barbara Streisand - The Prince of Tides Soundtrack.

What annoys me is that it keeps recommending songs that I already have, just haven't purchased from iTMS.

That means it's on the right track.

But does it analyze your iTMS purchases or your iTunes library?

It had better go only on purchases. I don't want them uploading my entire music collection into their database.

You can tell iTunes that you already own it, or else you don't like it. Ms. Streisand is now banished from my list.

this is kind of off tpic, but whatever...question about barbera streisand--

Okay I was watching the Showbiz Show w/ David Spade, and he showed part of some interview with barbara (forgot who the interviewer was or what show it was originally on) and she sais some stupid things, and I'm like yeah, okay, that's to be expected... and then she starts talking about the number 4. wtf? She begins to explain that four is a very good number... and continues to say that it is a creative number... again, wtf? and why is it creative? because from four, you can create five! seriously WTF???

Does anyone think that was a real interview, or is David just making fun of her?? I mean, it just seems SO extremely massively incredibly STUPID, too stupid for anyone (even her) to say on the air. But at the same time, I cannot imagine how they would have faked that video!

======

An interesting fact, also not terribly on topic--barbara is the only celebrity that South Park makes fun of who the creaters actually have a thing against.

back on topic: yeah that is an insult. and yeah it should check your library and not just iTMS purchases.

Err, no. They don't need to scan your HD, then send the contents back to Infinite Loop.

I've sent feedback to apple asking them to include an option where it will scan your HD and log the tracks you already have so just for you can recommend decent suggestions.

It should be an option though, not mandatory.

I always read, and then ignore, every "you may also be interested in..." tag I see. Whether it's ITMS or Amazon, or anyone else. I read 'em because sometimes they're funny: "You may also be interested in this Windows-only Bluetooth adapter" when I've ordered a Mac-only part... dumb! And once I finish reading them, they no longer exist as far as I'm concerned, kind of like a joke in poor taste that "is not heard" by people of good upbringing.

And has anyone ever wondered why Babs did such great Christmas music? Think about it...
