I've been trying to perform an archive install for a few hours now. The f'n thing keeps hanging.

I think Apple's QA has really declined. Last update, several people I know got screwed by the Adobe thing. Now, I'm reading reports that people are having trouble with this release. I'm not too forgiving here. My iMac is running as close to stock as it can (no haxies, etc). The installer just crashed. WTF Apple!?

1. Close Safari.
2. Navigate to /Library/ApplicationSupport/SIMBL/PithHelmet.bundle.
3. Open bundle and go to Contents.
4. Open info.plist - You can use either Property List Editor or TextEdit.
5. Locate Bundle Identifier for com.apple.Safari.
6. Change BOTH MaxBundleVersion AND MinBundleVersion to (current version of Safari; usually the first three digits are sufficient)
7. Save and relaunch Safari.

HTH
Here is how to get PithHelmet working with 10.4.7.

In the info.plist file, search for "417" and replace it with "420". Should work.

The update went fine here on my MBP 15". However, the issue of winking of screen after it wakes up seems to have worsened! (earlier it looked as if the problem was solved but now it seems as if it has gone worse)

It was jerky for me even before 10.4.7. Really jerky if there were several images on the page aligned vertically so that I had to go Pg-Down a few times to get to bottom. On those pages scrolling has been jerky in 10.4.6 too.

After a bit of usage: this jerky safari scrolling is annoying me now

This got the Acidsearch SIMBL plugin working again for me. Thanks for the tip!

I just noticed that my MBP doesn't get as hot on that bar about the number keys. Yesterday I wouldn't have been able to hold my finger on that bar for more then 5 seconds without it being uncomfortable but tonight I can hold my finger on there all I want. The only thing different is the 10.4.7 update.....

anyone elses safari break? Mines acting verrry odd.

if i type in the address bar it won't display the text until i open a new tab, then mysteriously the webpage is display but i cant scroll. i can click a link, but it wont refresh till i've flipped back and forward to the other tab.

After giving up and trying to close the window, it just hangs until i force quit.

:/

So the updates to OpenGL that the latest WoW patch mentioned it would take advantage of didn't make it in?

I am experiencing choppy scrolling when scrolling from the trackpad only. I have a PPC 17" PowerBook and I use Sidetrack and Safari is choppy while scrolling. I have read that people with the Intel based Macs are experiencing choppy 2 finger scrolling in Safari.
Firefox works like a charm FYI.

Yet it still appears to be running fine on a 1.33GHz G4.

I think I am having issues as well. I have not confirmed yet - since I need to work - but I woke my Sawtooth G4 up today and it was "on" but non-responsive. Mouse was fine, display was on and I could see the desktop - but no activity and I was unable to SSH in.

Do you have any font managers installed? Or, did you use TinkerTool to change your system typefaces? Did you move any fonts from the /Library/Fonts or /System/Library/Fonts folders?

Strange that the intel macs get better updates.

Anywho, 10.4.7 is pretty un-eventful for me. Didn't fix a single problem that I have been experiencing.

No, no font managers installed. Was fine until I installed the 10.4.7 update.

Yup, the two finger mouse scroll does seem to be stuttering for me as well, but only during "mid speed" scrolling (slow and fast scrolling is still smooth).

Hmm. Either way it is odd that open GL is that much better on intel macs now when on PPC there is no improvement.

It seems that the PPC and Intel sides are not quite "in sync" when it comes to updates. Has something to do with the PPC side having so many more systems to test and bug fix than does the Intel side. For reference, my knowledge on this comes only from what info TigerClaw gives out on the WoW mac forums:

Anyone's WebKit break over this? I tried downloading the latest nightly without change (I was using the recommended build from the Applications thread before that) with no luck. Just bounces once and goes away.

Oh well, back to good old regular Safari for me

Oh, and did not fix my issue with Motion unexpectedly quitting with desktop preview on for me either. And boo to only intels getting OpenGL updates
