Good job, peeb. Ignore the topic I've posted, which is namely the fact that one prominent left-wing newspaper's polling shows McCain will beat either of your candidates. Btw, if you're supporting Clinton or Barack Hussein Obama, you should embrace their Socialism.

Erm, no. You should embrace the dictionary - they are not socialist by any commonly accepted definition. The topic you posted is the likelihood of a democratic victory - you posted a rogue poll, I drew your attention to the mainstream, something you seem quite out of touch with.
BTW, nice to know that you've discovered Senator Obama's middle name. No crypto racist agenda there, I'm sure!

It has nothing to do with his race. And it is his name.

Right - it is his name, but his is the only name you spell out in full. I wonder why?

No need to wonder. As I've said, electing a Hussein for president at this point in history is akin to electing an Adolf president in 1949. And I'm sure there were a lot of nice Adolfs. It's one small qualm among huge issues I have with the Obama candidacy.

Doh! You loose! Godwin's Law AND the stupidest post of the decade in one!
There is nothing shameful, troubling or inappropriate about his name. Attempts to place undue weight on it (for example, by insisting on using his middle name when you don't use anyone else's) simply serve to highlight your ignorance and racism. Attempting to make entirely spurious links in the public's mind between his name and the name of completely unrelated individuals is reprehensible, a low and desperate act of cowardly abuse. This thread is pretty much over, you've disgraced yourself more than usual.

As I said, it has nothing to do with race. Do you think Islamic or Arab pertains to race? And name calling gets you nowhere.

McCain will be your next Prez, for sure. There's way too much poop slinging in the Dem race for either candidate to come out clear with nothing stuck to them.

The polling numbers are meaningless right now. Wait till after the Party's respective conventions...then the polls will be more on target.

One of the little pleasures if Barack Hussein Obama become President of the US and Commander-in-Chief of the US Armed Forces will be watching the heads explode of petty people like Big Mac. "Wait, we're supposed to be in World War IV with people named Hussein!"

I see. And that makes it okay to be bigoted against?
Islam, also, is a religion, but somehow I doubt you'd appreciate it if Obama had a Jewish-sounding middle name instead and someone were attacking him for that. Attacking him for having a Muslim-sounding middle name isn't any more high-brow.
You should stick to what you know, Charles - computing.
It's true that I rarely go in here, but for some reason your fixation on attacking people for their names really bothers me. I have to wonder if you associate me with Charles Manson or some other evil person just because of my first name.

Dude, you're imagining that. Like, completely and utterly.
He could just have easily have said "Stick to what you know, mate - computing".
It was an attack on your knowledge base, not your name.

Okay, peeb, it makes a lot of sense to call an Orthodox Jew a Klan member. You're so very clever. There's a pretty large double standard around here, I think. Muslims come here and declare that Jews control the media/Israel is taking over the Middle East and none of you care, but I get condemned for merely calling critical attention to Barack's name and stating my opinion that it represents a political liability.
How about this? My degree is in Political Science, and in my younger days I considered running for office. But I have a Hebrew first name. I know that in some quarters my name would negatively affect my candidacy. Did I just write something false? No. Did I just write something bigoted? No. I wrote the truth. The truth doesn't scare me.

Try reading my post again. I don't think it was that hard to understand. Basically, it boiled down to:
1. Claiming that attacking someone based on "ethnic classification or nationality" isn't racist is nothing more than a semantic argument that means nothing, and
2. Given that he likes to attack people based on something as arbitrary as one's middle name, one wonders what other arbitrary judgments he makes about people on a regular basis.

But you'd fit right in! Oh, right, they wouldn't like your name... Well, at least that wouldn't make them racists, eh?

There's no double standard. Arguing about how appropriate it may or may not be for a group to take certain actions is a long way from deliberately spelling out one candidates full name in the hopes of creating FUD about it sounding "Muslim", or "foreign", or just, "you know, scary - like one of THOSE people".

So, I'd really like to talk about this poll. You guys have told me several times that it will be impossible for McCain to beat either Dem. Here's a poll that speaks to the contrary. Any of you surprised? Any of you honest enough to admit that it's just possible that you were very wrong?

Persist in misconstruing my comments - fine. I didn't compare him to Hitler. I say that his name represents a political liability, similar to how an Adolf for president would have a political liability over his name. I think most of you know fully well that when I say his name represents a political liability I am telling the truth, so you skew my words and inject ad hominems in an attempt to obscure that truth. That's entirely fine. Support the nomination of either of the hard-left candidates you have to choose from, and the day McCain wins you'll most certainly ascribe his win to all the "bigots" out there.

Not in the least. Americans voted for Bush in 2004... they'll elect anybody.

What he did was equate it to electing someone with the same first name as Adolf Hitler. Which is still stupid, mind you. I have a different thought experiment for Big Mac. Suppose there are two candidates: One is named Adolf and has fairly reasonable policies. The other one is named something "safe" like John Smith and has policies that have an eerie resemblance to Hitler's. Which would you vote for?
Just trying to figure out where your priorities are.

Some people simply have issues with reading comprehension. Sure, there were nice Adolfs, we'd have a very limited selection of beer in this country if it weren't for several of them.

Shaddim, thank you for pointing out the falsehood peeb is trying to perpetuate. Of course, he's too stubborn to ever admit defeat, unfortunately.

Due to the fact that it represents a small but real political liability. Like it or not, that's the truth.

It's very minor, but there is a bit of a "flinch factor" associated with it. That's probably the reason why he doesn't use it, anywhere. I hear "Hillary Rodham Clinton" several times each day, but never "Barack Hussein Obama".

Why does his middle name bother you? I know it might hurt his electability (with ignorant voters), but since you are not voting for him why would you care?
