I hope this is the right place to post this, but is not please move mod

On my new macbook pro 15inch, in OSX, my fans rarely turn on.
They generally only turn on when i have open tons of apps.
But when I am in boot camp/windows, my fans turns on high nearly as soon as i turn windows on.
Any thoughts?
Just bad drivers or am i missing something?

That's normal. It's just Windows.

Edited the title to be less... misleading (It was "Laptop on fire?").

The next question is, have you checked Task Manager in XP to see if you have any processes taking up a lot of CPU usage? If there is, this could be a program that you have installed doing something or a piece of spyware or a virus.

Depending on the direction of this thread from this point onwards, it may get moved to Alt OS.

A good question is - what MacBook Pro is this? Is it the new one? I suspect Apple has released new drivers for this.

The MacBooks that I have will ramp up their fans while booting Windows but get quieter once they've booted unless a process goes awry.

the problem does not seem to be as bad.

i was wondering what are your thoughts on gaming on the macbook pro?
i have xp installed, and i know if there is a big difference with gaming and the direct x 10.
meaning is it worth it for me to upgrade?

That would probably depend on what games you're playing and whether they can support DX10.

yeah, most of the stuff that i have is really new games that are out.

also i did stop some of the background processes that were running in the background.
that may have been the issue with the fans.
thanks again.
