I understand this may fall into the realm of the OSX forum but figured the slant toward profesional design might warrant an A&D variant.
Hoping to get the early adopters of Leopard to share their experience with industry standard design applications. Will include but not be limited to Adobe CS 3 (in all forms / apps), Quark, Suitcase, Silverfast, Lightroom, Aperature, Motion, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, etc.
Any and all interested please add to list.
Any chance of getting this stickified?

I think that's a fine addition to the list. And good information.
Thx.

Photoshop CS3 works great...except the first time I started it I got a "could not synchronize the color settings" error. Went away the next time I ran it though.

Quark 6.52 isn't supported? If this is true I'll probably walk away from Quark when I go Leopard. None of my current clients are insisting upon files built in Quark any longer. In fact, most prefer InDesign.
Happy to hear about PS CS3. One of my primary apps down.
Anyone using Illustrator CS3 or InDesign CS3?

PS cs3 has a handful of buggy quirks
for starters the arrows in some of the drop down boxes look borked. Second, some of the input boxes (ie font size up in the top menu) doesn't always work. The text tool still causes spinning beach ball for about 15 seconds when selected. And it seems system wide (but more noticeably in the tool palette in ps cs3) clicking is just weird.....i don't know how to explain it, but the flyout menu on certain tools, seems to either be too slow (on mouse down) or it reads the right click as a double right click.
thats all i got for now.....will post more as i get into my work more.

The arrow for the dropdowns doesn't really look like an arrow to me in Leopard. Looks like a sort of pointed blob.
Text tool and has no problems here though, and font-size up/down works.

Here's the Photoshop blobs, type tool, and part of Kim Kardashian
Notice in the upper left hand corner it's not a proper arrow.

How is the performance of CS3 apps? Any speed bump?

from the palette sizing works fine.....but i was running into issues with the font size drop down in the top menu (under the menu bar) when the text tool is selected
and no, you don't get a beachball for a bit when you initially select the type tool?
@art_director
System performance in general is greatly increased.....leopard handles memory far better, and there are some theories now that all of the ui elements may be being pulled from quartz, and as such using the full potential of the gpu....but, is just a theory. Regardless PS seems to run a smidge quicker on leopard than on tiger, but haven't had the opportunity to really tax it with large profiles.

I don't get the beachball, no. I work on a Mac Pro though with a raptor as my boot drive and scratch disk, so the performance is just as good as it always was...I would say it launches a little quicker, though.

Thanks for answering the performance question, guys. Needless to say that's been on all our minds.
What are you both using for font maintenance? I'm wondering about how Suitcase Fusion performs.
Thus far Leopard sounds like a positive move that may not suffer from some of the quirks presented by earlier OS X releases. Would you each say this is a fair statement?

My setup is similar right down to the Raptor 10K startup drive and scratch disk. You have to love that speed, eh?
How much RAM are you running in your MP? I only have 4.5GB. Thus far it does nicely for my needs. Mostly...
Anyone using Lightroom with Leopard?

I've only got 4 gb, and really it's fine for the most part- no issues with excessive pageouts, etc.
I did have an issue with the X1900 and random artifacts/black lines appearing every few hours, and many others have had the same problem if you search discussions.apple.com for 'graphical glitches' and http://forums.macnn.com/90/mac-os-x/...xel-artifacts/ Went away for me after thoroughly blasting it with canned air the other day, knock on wood, but others are still having issues.
I don't use Lightroom or Suitcase Fusion. As far as previous quirks, this is my first Apple OS upgrade since system 6 to 7, and my Pismo which came with OS 9 IIRC. Spent a long time in Windows land before coming back

Leopard is indeed a positive move, don't fret
I haven't played with font management yet, but for the most part i've ditched suitcase altogether, as i haven't had any font issues in terms of design work

I’d hate to have your needs, if 4.5 GB of RAM warrants use of adverbs such as ‘only’.
My brand-new MP has 5 GB, and I wouldn’t dream of using ‘only’ in the same sentence (oh, hang on... I just did... damn, foiled again!).

Font management is a concern for me too. Any Leopard issues with Font Agent Pro?

I don't do as much CS3 work as I used to, but my main problem with Leopard was with system fonts. I use FontExplorer. There is a workaround, though.
