And here's the fix! Buy a new processor. Today I installed a new dual 1.2 Ghz Processor from OWC.com, and it seems that solves the problem. Who knows how but apparently one of the processors died...

I also upgraded to 9.2.1 and lost my cd burner (USB iomega). Turning off USB and Firewire authoring extensions worked for me as well. I went ahead and turned off the Disc Burner Extension as well.
